Fox Valley
Technical College
Appleton, WI
In
2002, XericWeb® Drying Systems helped fund five irAIR dryers
for Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. The combination
infrared-convection dryers were installed on a Mark Andy five-station
flexo press.
The College
is well known for its excellent graphic arts training programs in
both flexographic and sheet-fed offset printing. Recognizing the
importance of providing flexo students with state-of-the-art equipment,
XericWeb Drying Systems offered to retrofit the schools narrow-web
press with more effective dryers.
Flexo instructors
Mark Keller and Dan Muthig have been very pleased with the results.
Mark explained,
I had to change the dryers on the Mark Andy press. Our run
speeds were always in jeopardy, due to drying-related issues. Now,
with dryers from XericWeb Drying Systems, we can always run at the
maximum speed the job will allow. Our run speeds have tripled.
There
are so many variables with any printing job, said Dan. Because
our new dryers do what theyre supposed to do, theyve
eliminated one of the variables right off the top. Also, with the
old dryers, jobs would pick, even at idle speeds. That
doesnt happen any more.
We also
appreciate the help and support we get from the folks at XericWeb
Drying Systems. If we need it, help is just a phone call away,
Mark stated.

Edale Ltd.
Romsey,
United Kingdom
"We
wanted to get people involved who understand dryers and tap into
their knowledge of drying and inks," explained James Boughton,
Chief Executive of Edale Ltd., as he described why his company chose
the irAIR dryer for the Sigma flexo press. Working with XericWeb
Drying Systems allows us "to focus on our technology, which
is printing and web handling," added Steve Jordan, Technical
Director.
Edale
has been designing and manufacturing narrow-web flexographic printing
presses since the 1950s and today has presses installed in countries
all around the world. The irAIR dryer is a popular option for Edale's
servo-driven Sigma press, which was introduced in 2003.
"We
custom-build our Sigma press and XericWeb Drying Systems is able
to custom-build dryers to support our machines," James stated.
"We are pleased with XericWeb's service and support."
